Will Haunschild , actually Georg Wilhelm Haunschild , called Willy Haunschild , from 1936 Will Haunschild (born January 23, 1911 in Bremen , † September 10, 1999 in Bremen) was a German painter and commercial artist.

Life

The son of a railway engineer studied at the Hildesheim School of Applied Arts from 1925 and after this training went to the Zeek department store in Stralsund as a window dresser in 1927 and stayed there until 1937. He then joined Carl Eduard Schünemann's publishing house , where he soon became the studio manager. From 1942 to 1947 he was a freelance graphic designer in Meiningen, then he returned to Bremen and worked for large Bremen and foreign companies. Among others were Pelikan , Warncke Eiscreme, Palmolive , Vogelsang Tabak, Nordmende , Borgward , Bremer Vulkan , Haake-Beck , and since 1958 especially the North German Lloydhis client. As a book illustrator, draftsman and painter of landscapes and urban architecture, of sailing boats and harbors, he showed himself to be more closely connected to the representational than in some of his poster creations, which use the design elements of the Bauhaus era. Haunschild often only signed his graphic works with “H.”. From 1955 to 1977 he was chairman of the Bremen group of the Association of German Commercial Graphics and was one of the founding members of the Alliance of German Designers .
