Willem Janssen (football player, 1880)
Willem Gerhard Janssen (born June 11, 1880 in Lonneker , † September 8, 1976 ) was a Dutch football player . He played three international matches for the Dutch national football team in 1907 .
career
Willem Janssen was a midfielder and defender for PW Enschede . With the club from the industrial city in the province of Overijssel , located on the Twentekanal, he moved into the finals of the Dutch football championship three times in a row . Janssen played the first final with his team from Enschede on May 7th / 1st. June 1905 against HVV Den Haag . He experienced the second final on May 5 and 12, 1906 with the games 2: 3 and 2: 4 against HBS Den Haag , before losing the third final against HVV Den Haag in May 1907.
Janssen made his debut on April 1, 1907 in the fifth international game of the Elftal in the national team. In The Hague, Oranje lost 8-1 to England (amateurs). In addition to captain John Heijning , he was on the left outside runner position. On April 14, his second appearance followed in a 3-1 win in Antwerp against Belgium, where he was active as a middle runner. With his third international match on May 9, 1907 in Haarlem , again against Belgium (1: 2), he ended his international career. Defender Ben Stom had played all previous international matches for the Elftal .
