Willem Van Eynde

Willem Van Eynde (born July 24, 1960 in Lier ) is a former Belgian cyclist . His greatest success was the victory at Rund um Köln in 1993.

Career

Willem Van Eynde turned pro in 1982 after winning an amateur race in Brittany. In 1983 he won his first important professional race in Heist-op-den-Berg . In 1985 he took third place in the Wielerrevue Grand Prix race. In 1985 he also took part in the Tour de France for the first time, in the end he finished in 93rd place. This should remain his best Tour placement, followed by 102nd ( 1986 ), 126 ( 1987 ) and 97 ( 1990 ). In 1987 Van Eynde won the Binche – Tournai – Binche race , in 1988 he achieved two victories. In 1989 he won at Nizza-Alessio and took third place at the classic La Flèche Wallonne . Until his victory in 1993 at Rund um Köln , he only managed a stage win in 1992 on a smaller tour.
