Willi Bauer

Willi Bauer (born September 14, 1942 in Roitham am Traunfall ) is an Austrian mountaineer .

Life

From 1970 onwards, Willi Bauer undertook several expeditions that took him to Africa, South America and Asia. Important first ascents and first ascents were also made. Besides Kurt Diemberger, he was the only survivor of the tragedy of 1986 at K2 .

In 1984, together with Walter Bergmayr, Willi Brandecker and Reinhard Streif, he succeeded in the first ascent of Yukshin Gardan Sar (7530 m) in the Karakoram (Pakistan).
