Willi Diel

Willi Diel (born May 10, 1928 in Koblenz ; † April 2, 2015 in Bad Ems ) was a German civil servant and politician ( SPD ).

Life

Diel attended elementary school in Koblenz-Ehrenbreitstein until 1942 and did an apprenticeship as a railway maid in Koblenz-Ehrenbreitstein from 1942 to 1944. In 1944 he did military service in the Air Force and was then taken into American captivity. From 1945 to 1960 he worked for the Federal Railroad, where he became a civil servant in 1953. 1951 to 1952 he attended the Dortmund Social Academy. 1960 to 1965 he was a civil servant in the Koblenz city administration and city inspector.

Diel had been a member of the SPD since 1947. There he was chairman of the SPD local association in Niederlahnstein in 1952 , chairman of the SPD district association Loreley district from 1962 to 1969 and of the Rhein-Lahn district from 1969 to 1975. Since 1962 he was a member of the SPD sub-district executive in the Montabaur administrative region and since 1965 a member of the SPD regional executive for Rhineland / Hesse-Nassau.

In terms of local politics, he was a member of the Niederlahnstein city council from 1956 to 1965 and chairman of the parliamentary group in 1960. From 1962 to 1982 he was chairman of the SPD parliamentary group there. From 1956 to 2001 he was a member of the Loreley district and the Rhein-Lahn district, where he was chairman of the SPD district parliamentary group from 1961 to 1971. From 1994 to 2002 he was first district councilor.

From 1965 to 1972 he was mayor of Kamp-Bornhofen and from 1966 to 1972 also of Kestert . From 1972 to 1992 he was mayor of the Bad Ems community .

From May 18, 1963 to May 19, 1975 he was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament . In the 5th electoral term he was a member of the special committee for administrative reform in the state parliament. In the 6th electoral term he was a member of the Interior Committee and the Cultural Policy Committee. In the 7th electoral term he was deputy chairman of the interior committee and member of the intermediate committee.

In 1974 he was a member of the 6th and 1984 of the 9th Federal Assembly .

In addition, he was a trade union member in the GdED and ÖTV from 1947 , from 1952 to 1960 honorary social judge, lay judge and jury member, 1964 member of the AWO district committee for Rhineland / Hesse-Nassau, 1965 to 1973 deputy district chairman of the AWO, 1982 to 2001 chairman of the DRK district association , from 1989 to 1996 deputy district chairman, member of the administrative committee of the Niederlahnstein employment office.
