Willi Geyert

Willi Geyert (born May 4, 1920 ) is a former German soccer player. For EHW / Stahl Thale he played 105 games between 1950 and 1954 in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football .

Athletic career

Willi Geyert played his first league game in the fifth game of SG Eisenhüttenwerk Thale at the home game against BSG Chemie Leipzig (1: 1). He immediately fought for a regular place in the team, was only missing in three league games by the end of the season and so came to 27 appearances. In the course of the season, the Eisenhüttenwerk sports community was converted into the Stahl Thale company sports community . Geyert maintained his status as a regular player in the following two seasons, in which he was missing only once in the 68 point games. He was regularly used as a right defender. The 1953/54 season brought both BSG Stahl and Geyert out of the league. Geyert started as usual from the first day of play on his position on the right defensive side, but initially only played the first ten point games. After that, he could not be used injured for several weeks and was then only used in two other league games. His last game in the league was again the encounter between Stahl Thale and BSG Chemie Leipzig, which this time ended 1: 2 on matchday 21. Stahl Thale was relegated from the league after the season, and Geyert no longer appeared in higher-class football.
