The 13 regional football associations in Switzerland that are affiliated to the Swiss Football Association (SFV) hold a regional cup competition each year . Theoretically, all clubs from the sixth class 2nd division to the 5th division , the ninth and lowest division in Swiss gaming are eligible to participate, but only a maximum of one team from a club may participate.
The 13 winners of the cups are qualified for the first main round of the Swiss Cup . If a second team from a club wins the regional cup, the right to start the Swiss Cup is transferred to the first team. The three largest associations, the Bern / Jura Football Association, the Zurich Region Football Association and the Eastern Switzerland Football Association send two teams to the first main round. Depending on the constellation, the finalist from the Bern / Jura football association is also the finalist or, if the winner in the semifinals is qualified from the Jura subordinate football association, this time it is the Tavannes-Tramelan FC. From the Football Association of the Region of Zurich, the winner of the fair play rating will also take part, this year FC Hausen am Albis. In the Eastern Switzerland Football Association, the finalist is also qualified.
