Willi König (politician)

Willi König (born February 25, 1907 in Schönebeck (Elbe) ; † July 28, 1983 ibid) was a German politician, Lord Mayor of Schönebeck and member of the state parliament ( KPD , SED ).

Life

He was the son of the factory worker Otto König. He attended elementary school in Schönebeck from 1914 to 1921 and trained as a carpenter from 1921 to 1924. Until 1927 he worked in different cities in the learned profession.

Willi König joined the KPD in 1927 and in the same year became sub-district chairman of his party in the district of Kalbe . From 1932 to 1933 he was chairman of the carpenters' association in Schönebeck.

After the seizure of power by the Nazis, he was arrested in 1933 and by the People's Court sentenced to prison. In 1936 he was released from prison.

In 1945 he reorganized the KPD in Schönebeck and was appointed Lord Mayor of the city by the SMAD . After the forced union he became a member of the SED. In the semi-free state elections in the Soviet zone in 1946 , he was elected to the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt in constituency II ( Burg , Magdeburg , Schönebeck , Jerichow I , Wolmirstedt , Haldensleben , Wanzleben ) .

On June 7, 1949, he became a department head in the state leadership of the SED.
