The district of Burg was a district in the state of Saxony-Anhalt in the GDR from 1950 to 1952 , then from 1952 to 1990 as the Burg district in the Magdeburg district . From 1990 to 1994 it existed as the Burg district in the state of Saxony-Anhalt . Today his area belongs to the district of Jerichower Land in Saxony-Anhalt. The seat of the district administration was in Burg .

The Burg district bordered clockwise in the north, beginning with the Tangerhütte districts (until 1987) and Stendal (from 1988), Genthin , Brandenburg-Land , Loburg (until 1957) and Zerbst (from 1957), Schönebeck , Magdeburg district and Wolmirstedt .

history

Emergence

The district was created on July 1, 1950 in the province or the country Saxony (-Anhalt) the Soviet occupation zone by renaming the former Prussian district Jerichow I . The seat of the district was the city of Burg . Also on July 1, 1950, the city of Burg, which had been a district since June 1, 1924, was incorporated into the Burg district. On July 25, 1952, the territory of the district was reduced in size during the GDR district reform . 25 parishes were removed as the Loburg district , but the Krüssau parish of the Genthin district became part of the Burg district. On June 20, 1957, the Loburg district was dissolved again and the majority of the communities became part of the Burg district again.

The coat of arms was approved by the Interior Ministry on July 27, 1990.

Blazon : “Split by blue and silver; It shows the crowned Mary with the child in her left arm, holding a lily scepter in her right, on a folding chair decorated with wolf heads under a clover leaf arch with three pinnacle towers, filled with rhombuses decorated with roses. "

License Plate

Motor vehicles (with the exception of motorcycles) and trailers were assigned three-letter distinctive signs starting with the letter pairs HA and MA from around 1974 to the end of 1990 . The last number plate series used for motorcycles was HV 00-01 to HV 20-00 .

At the beginning of 1991 the district received the distinctive sign BRG . It was issued until June 30, 1994. It has been available in the Jerichower Land district since November 27, 2012 .
