The district of Burg was a district in the state of Saxony-Anhalt in the GDR from 1950 to 1952 , then from 1952 to 1990 as the Burg district in the Magdeburg district . history

Emergence

The district was created on July 1, 1950 in the province or the country Saxony (-Anhalt) the Soviet occupation zone by renaming the former Prussian district Jerichow I . The seat of the district was the city of Burg . Also on July 1, 1950, the city of Burg, which had been a district since June 1, 1924, was incorporated into the Burg district. On July 25, 1952, the territory of the district was reduced in size during the GDR district reform . 25 parishes were removed as the Loburg district , but the Krüssau parish of the Genthin district became part of the Burg district. On June 20, 1957, the Loburg district was dissolved again and the majority of the communities became part of the Burg district again.
