Krüssau is a village and a district of Möckern in the district of Jerichower Land in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The district town of Burg (near Magdeburg) , 17 kilometers away, can only be reached via several district or state roads or via the federal motorway 2 , junction Theeßen, 6 km away .

The embossed by woods landscape still belongs to the western foothills of Fläming and directly to the conservation area "Moeckern-Magdeburgerforth". Of the many elevations in the vicinity, Königsberg, three kilometers away, has the greatest height at 67 meters. The brook flows through the village and flows five kilometers further north into the wetland Fiener Bruch .

history

The place name Crüssau appears for the first time in 1370. The place was always dominated by the manor, where many residents found wages and bread. In 1446, the noble Achim von Kracht received the Krussow family as a fief from Archbishop Friedrich III .

The history of Krüssau is closely linked to the von Arnim family. In 1507 Lippold I von Arnim decided to sell his possessions in Zehdenick, Brandenburg , in order to found a new family empire in the Archdiocese of Magdeburg . In addition to the estates in Brandenstein , Hohenseeden and Theeßen , he also acquired Gut Krüssau as a fief on May 29, 1507 . Krüssau passed into the possession of Count Schulenburg in 1750 and in 1756 into the possession of General Christoph Daniel.

After the state rule was passed from the archbishopric to the Brandenburg duchy of Magdeburg in 1680, the place was assigned to the new Jerichower district. This was divided into two districts in 1785 , now under Prussian rule. Krüssau came to the Jerichow II district, which, after a further administrative reform in 1816, became the Jerichow II district with the district office in Genthin . From 1822 to 1845 Wilhelm von Arnim was district administrator there. In 1928 the previously independent manor districts were dissolved and incorporated. Brandenstein, who came to Krüssau, was also affected by this. In 1952, as part of the GDR administrative reform, the district was renamed as Genthin. In 1994, the Genthin district was merged with the Burg district to form the new Jerichower Land district.

In the middle of the 19th century, several residents were engaged in cloth-making; at that time there were about 20 looms in the village.

The regional reforms have also left their mark on Krüssau. On September 30, 1928, the manor district of Krüssau and the main part of the manor district of Brandenstein were combined with the rural community of Krüssau. The northern forest enclave of the Brandenstein manor district was merged with the rural community of Gladau. Until December 31, 2009, Krüssau with its district Brandenstein was an independent municipality of the unified municipality Möckern. Since January 1st 2010 it lost its independence and was incorporated into the city of Möckern.

The last mayor of the independent Krüssau was Rainer Kohl.

coat of arms

Blazon : “In blue a silver swan with a red beak swimming to the left; in the base of the shield three floating black wavy lines one below the other. "

As early as the 19th century, Krüssau had a picture seal with a swan. It should be mentioned that there used to be six fish ponds between Krüssau and Theeßen through which a stream flowed. These ponds were used for fishing and were home to all kinds of water birds. If the chronicle also notes that the landlords used to keep swans in the ponds and that a swan is therefore included in the village seal, that may be the explanation. Swans were not only a courtly ornament in parks and ponds of the landed gentry, but were even consumed.

The municipality decided on July 4, 2000 to design the seal image as a heraldically correct coat of arms and to bring it into the approval process, which was implemented by the municipal heraldist Jörg Mantzsch .

The colors of Krüssau are: silver (white) - blue.

Historical coat of arms

“The village = seal of Crüssau has a swimming swan. Since the village seals take into account the predominant occupation of the residents (fishing, shipping, viticulture, forestry, hunting, etc.), it is reasonable to assume that the landlords kept swans in the ponds in ancient times, and therefore a swan is included in the village seal. "

The community of Krüssau already had a coat of arms-like seal image in its community seal. This was used in the period after the Second World War until around the introduction of the districts and counties in the GDR (1945–1952). Another source is the County Home Museum in Genthin.

flag

The flag is blue - white - blue (1: 4: 1) striped (hoisted flag: stripes vertical, cross flag: stripes running horizontally) with the coat of arms on top.

She is responsible for fire fighting and technical assistance in the area of Krüssau and Brandenstein and, together with the volunteer fire brigades Rietzel and Stresow, forms a fire brigade for major damage. The fire department consists of the
