Dalchau is a district of Möckern in the Jerichower Land district in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The district is located about five kilometers south-east of Möckern . It has a rural character and is surrounded by agricultural land in a wide area. In terms of landscape, it is assigned to the Fläming ridge , it is located on its southwestern edge. Dalchau is away from important traffic routes. District road 1234 creates the connection to federal road 246, via which both the capital Möckern and the district town of Burg (near Magdeburg) , 22 kilometers away, can be reached. The next motorway connection is Burg-Ost (A 2, 17 km).

In terms of natural space , the place belongs to the Zerbster Land , an arable, open cultural landscape and 536 km² main unit of the superordinate main unit group of the Fläming in the north German lowlands . The Zerbster Land forms the southwestern roof of the Fläming to the Elbe and belongs to the catchment area of this river.

history

Just like the neighboring Leitzkau or the not far away Parchau bei Burg, the place name Dalchau can be assumed to be of Old Slavic origin, and so it can be assumed that the Liutizen , who belonged to the Slavs , settled at the current location as early as the 5th or 6th century . The Dalchauer Church was first mentioned in 1161. Until the Thirty Years' War the place was under the control of the Archdiocese of Magdeburg , after which Brandenburg-Prussia exercised the state rule.

Before 1807 the village and manor belonged to the 1st district of the Jerichow district in the Duchy of Magdeburg . During the Westphalian interim rule in Magdeburg they came to the Kurmark and after the end of the Wars of Liberation to the district of Jerichow I of the administrative district of Magdeburg in the Prussian province of Saxony . As a result of a census from December 1861, there were 95 fireplaces, 279 residents and a Protestant parish , which belonged to the superintendent district Loburg and the post-order district in Möckern. The relevant main course of the first instance was in the castle and the appeal court in Magdeburg. A military relationship prescribed at the time assigned the residents of the 5th Company of the 2nd Battalion of Regiment No. 26 of the 1st Magdeburg Landwehr .

The Dalchau stone grave was destroyed in the 19th century at the latest.

On September 30, 1928, the Dalchau Vorwerk was merged from the Möckern estate district with the Dalchau rural community.

The population increased steadily in the 20th century. In 1910 it was 281, the 1939 census found 307 inhabitants, and in 1964 there were 334 people in the village. As a result of the GDR territorial reform of 1952, Dalchau was initially assigned to the Loburg district and in 1957 to the Zerbst district . On January 1, 1974, it was incorporated into Zeppernick , four kilometers away , with which it was incorporated into the town of Möckern on January 1, 2007.

buildings

The Protestant village church of St. Anna von Dalchau consists of the rectangular nave, the somewhat narrower choir and a polygonal apse . All parts of the building were built from field stones, only the upper floor of the square church tower was built in half-timbered construction. The Romanesque building was given its current appearance after extensive renovation work between 1677 and 1702. The original, stylish arched windows and portals have been preserved over time.

The interior of the church dates from the Middle Ages. The nave and choir are separated by a so-called triumphal arch . On the opposite side there is another round arch in the tower room. On the north wall is a late Gothic carved altar , made at the end of the 15th century. The central shrine and the two wings are adorned with a Madonna and figures of saints.
