Wendgräben is a district of Möckern in the Jerichower Land district in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The village is three kilometers northeast of Zeppernick . It is surrounded by the Loburger Vorfläming landscape protection area established by ordinance on August 5, 2003 by the former district of Anhalt-Zerbst . The approx. 2,449 hectare LSG is part of the Burg-Ziesarer Vorfläming natural area , which forms the western end of the Fläming . The surrounding area is a rural cultural landscape predominantly characterized by Ice Age ground moraines .

The source of the Blue Spring is located about 800 m north of the settlement in the forest . This stream flows to the Ehle , a good two kilometers southwest , a tributary of the Elbe . The place is almost completely surrounded by a large forest area and the landscape only opens to the south towards the Ehlen lowlands . The terrain here reaches heights of 70 meters. In the immediate vicinity, especially to the north, it rises around 100 meters.

history

In a document from 1459 a first mention of the place is proven, but this using the name Wendgreden .

Around 1663, on a map by Joan Blaeu, the entry Lucken-Mühle can be found immediately north of the current location. Further evidence can be found in the years 1780 and 1785. This entry can be found again in the same place on a card by Daniel Friedrich Sotzmann from 1800.

In records dating back to 1930, the place was as Vorwerk Wendgräben the manor listed in Loburg Loburg, associated with the Castle District Loburg in Gau Morzane the circle Jerichow I .

Until it was incorporated on July 1, 2007, the village was part of the municipality of Zeppernick, and today it is also part of the city of Möckern.

Attractions

Wendgräben Castle , built in 1910 in the style of English country houses, is around 500 m northeast of the village .
