Rosian is a village and a district of Möckern in the Jerichower Land district in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

Rosian is located on the upper Ehle , 17 kilometers east of the city center of Möckern. The district of the place belongs to the western Fläming plateau , a heather or grassy forest landscape of the north German lowlands. The forests of the West Fleming nature reserve extend east of the village. The West Fleming gradually slopes down towards the Elbe . The immediate area within a radius of two kilometers is determined by agricultural land. North and south of the Ehletal, the area around Rosian reaches heights of approx. 95 m above sea level. NHN. Rosian is close to the federal highway 246 from Möckern via Loburg to Bad Belzig .

In addition to the district of Rosian, the district of Isterbies belongs to the village of the same name .

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1260 and was initially called Resegane. Some sources mention that there was a swamp castle in its place in 1188. In 1383 Resegane was listed as a parish village. A church already existed in 1274. Initially under the rule of the Archdiocese of Magdeburg , Rosian came to the Brandenburg Duchy of Magdeburg after the Thirty Years' War in 1688 . When the previous Jerichow district was divided into two districts by the Prussian administration, Rosian was assigned to District 1, from which the district of Jerichow I later developed, which existed with its administrative seat in Burg until 1952. During the administrative reorganization of the GDR government in 1952, Rosian came to the Loburg district within the Magdeburg district . In 1957 the Loburg district was dissolved and Rosian was added to the Zerbst district. In 1974 the place Isterbies was incorporated. After German reunification and the 1st district reform of the federal state of Saxony-Anhalt, Rosian was assigned to the district of Anhalt-Zerbst . In terms of local politics, Rosian belonged to the Elbe-Ehle-Nuthe administrative community until June 30, 2007 . In the course of the district reform of 2007 , the district of Anhalt-Zerbst was dissolved and Rosian was transferred to the district of Jerichower Land . On January 1st, 2009 Rosian was incorporated into the city of Möckern.

In 1910 Rosian had 636 inhabitants, the number of which fell to 588 by 1933. In 1964 the population was 585.

politics

The local mayor is Thomas Schnee.

The coat of arms was approved on March 18, 1993 by the Dessau Regional Council.

Blazon : “Split by red and silver; in front a silver ear of corn and behind on a green mountain a triple tinned red tower. "

The community colors are red - silver (white).

The coat of arms was designed by the Heraldic Society "Black Lion" Leipzig. The ear of wheat is supposed to document the agriculture that has been practiced in the community since ancient times, which is the main livelihood of the residents. The tower indicates the former castle on the still existing hill and has only symbolic and historical character. The colors red and silver indicate that it belonged to the archbishopric and later duchy of Magdeburg.

The flag is black and white (1: 1) striped (cross shape: stripes running horizontally, lengthways shape: stripes running vertically) and centered with the municipal coat of arms. The flag was approved by the county on December 23, 2008.

Buildings

The village church of Rosian, whose origins go back to the 13th century, still shows numerous elements of the late Romanesque architectural style. In the north and east walls of the apse , the original windows and on the south side of the choir the arched priest door are preserved. Other Romanesque windows and portals are bricked up but still visible.

The building consists of the rectangular nave with a gable roof, the indented almost square choir and the apse. A half-timbered roof turret with a tiled pyramid roof was erected over the west gable in 1788. All enclosing walls are made of hewn field stones.

Inside, the nave is closed off by a flat ceiling. Here, too, a round triumphal arch and the apse arch point to the Romanesque origin. The sandstone baptismal font with a round basin and an octagonal base dates from the late Romanesque period. The late Gothic carved altar with central shrine, wings and predella was made around 1520 . All parts are provided with paintings showing the Madonna, the twelve apostles and the handkerchief of Veronica (predella). The wooden pulpit dates from 1587 . Wall paintings from around 1500 have been preserved in the choir. They show representations of saints in two rows. Still recognizable are Peter, Andrew, Paul and James as well as a bishop.
