The place is on a ridge, a western foothill of the Fläming , between the valleys of the rivers Ehle in the north and Nuthe in the south. The closer environment is determined by agricultural areas, to the southeast Hobeck is framed by the Hobecker and Lochau forest, where the area rises up to 107 meters above sea level. The place is on the national road 56, which connects it with Göbel and Klepps as well as with the next larger places Gommern and Leitzkau . The district town of Burg (near Magdeburg) is 32 kilometers by road, the state capital Magdeburg 34 kilometers away. The nearest train station is in Loburg , six kilometers away , and the closest motorway connection is AS Burg-Ost on the A 2 , 26 kilometers away.
In terms of natural space , the place belongs to the Zerbster Land , an arable, open cultural landscape and 536 km² main unit of the superordinate main unit group of the Fläming in the north German lowlands . The Zerbster Land forms the southwestern roof of the Fläming to the Elbe and belongs to the catchment area of this river.
history
Until the end of the Thirty Years War, Hobeck was in the sphere of influence of the Archdiocese of Magdeburg . After its secularization , Brandenburg-Prussia exercised state rule. After the introduction of the new Prussian district order, the place was incorporated into the Jerichow I district in 1818 . When the GDR carried out a territorial reform in 1952, Hobeck came to the Loburg district . On June 20, 1957, the Loburg district was dissolved and Hobeck fell to the Zerbst district . This affiliation remained until June 30, 2007, before the change to the Jerichower Land district took place due to a referendum on the occasion of a district reform in the state of Saxony-Anhalt .
The agricultural community had only 90 inhabitants in 1910. In addition to the municipality of Hobeck, there was also the independent regional authority of the Hobeck estate , which had 64 inhabitants in the same year. The von Münchhausen aristocratic family had been landowners since the 18th century . This fact also corresponds to the fact that Hobeck had belonged to the Kalitz office since 1874 , where the Münchhausen family also owned a manor. In the course of a community reform in 1928, the manor districts of Hobeck, Göbel and Klepps were combined with the rural community of Hobeck. As a result, Hobeck had 503 inhabitants in 1933. As a result of the intensified agriculture in the GDR era and the creation of job-intensive companies in the neighboring cities of Loburg and Möckern, the population increased to 705 in 1964.
On January 1, 2009, the previously independent community of Hobeck was incorporated into Möckern. The districts Göbel and Klepps as well as the residential area Klepps Ziegelei belonged to the community.

coat of arms
The coat of arms was approved on June 4, 1993 by the Dessau Regional Council.
Blazon : “Split by green and gold; topped with a linden tree growing from the base of the shield, the trunk of which is accompanied on both sides by an inclined ear, in mistaken tinctures. "
The community colors were gold (yellow) - green.
The linden tree represented the old landmark of this village and was also a reference to the wooded area in which the place is located. On the one hand, the two ears of corn symbolized the two districts of Göbel and Klepps and, on the other hand, indicated the main line of business, agriculture. The coat of arms was designed by the Heraldic Society "Black Lion" Leipzig and registered in the Quedlinburg coat of arms under the number QWR II / 89051 on November 15, 1989.
flag
The flag was approved by the county on December 23, 2008. It was striped yellow-green (1: 1) (transverse shape: stripes running horizontally, lengthways shape: stripes running vertically) and centered with the municipal coat of arms.
Protestant church
In Hobeck there was already a church building in the Middle Ages, but it was replaced by a new building between 1687 and 1691. A rectangular plastered building was created, to which a multi-sided choir room was added in the east . A church tower was built on the west facade, the basement of which extends to the ridge of the church roof and has a square floor plan. Above is the six-sided bell storey, which has a baroque tower dome. The interior has a barrel-vaulted wooden ceiling and a gallery is attached to the west wall . The pulpit altar from the 17th century is richly decorated with ornaments. Carved figures depict Christ , the Evangelists and Moses . Under the pulpit there is a painting depicting the Last Supper .
