Lübars is a village and a district of Möckern in the district of Jerichower Land in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The district of the place belongs to the western Fläming plateau , a heather or grassy forest landscape of the north German lowlands.

In addition to the district of Lübars, the district of the same name includes the districts of Glienicke , Klein Lübars and Riesdorf .

history

1187 is the first written mention of the place under the name Lubas . Various other spellings follow in other documents: 1219 as Lubaz , 1329 as major Lubas , 1372 as Ost-Lubars and 1382 as Lubars . Later it was reported about a village and manor in Groß Lübars .

In 1847, Groß Lübars was listed in the "Topographical-Statistical Manual of the Prussian State". The church village included a manor, a windmill, a brick factory, 36 houses and 180 souls.

On September 30, 1928, the manor district Groß Lübars was merged with the rural community Groß Lübars. On October 17, 1928, the Klein-Lübars manor district was merged with the Riesdorf manor district to form a rural municipality of Kleinlübars-Riesdorf.

The community Lübars was created on July 1, 1950 through the merger of the communities Groß Lübars , Klein Lübars-Riesdorf and Glienicke . Since the 1990s the community has belonged to the Möckern administrative community . When it was incorporated into the town of Möckern on July 1, 2002, it lost its political independence.

coat of arms

Blazon : "In silver, a blue oblique left bar covered with three upright golden acorns, accompanied by one above, and below by three rising green linden leaves, set in a wedge shape to the left."

The blue diagonal left bar refers to the Ihle, which rises in the Lübars district. The linden leaves symbolize the four places from which the former Lübars community emerged (Groß Lübars, Klein Lübars, Glienicke and Riesdorf). Linden leaves were chosen because the linden tree is a very common tree in the region and it is believed that it contributed to the name of the place ("lipa" = Slavic "linden tree"). The three acorns refer to the 800-year-old oak in Klein Lübars, which as a natural monument is a landmark of the place.

The coat of arms was designed by the municipal heraldist Jörg Mantzsch .

flag

The flag is blue and white (1: 1) striped (horizontal shape: stripes running horizontally, lengthways shape: stripes running vertically) and centered with the coat of arms.
