Wahl is a district of Möckern in the Jerichower Land district in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The village is four kilometers south of Loburg . Only 500 m to the south from here abuts the district on the boundary to the Anhalt-Bitterfeld which simultaneously the northern border from the conservation area (LSG) Zerbster Nuthe valleys represents. This LSG belongs to the Fläming Nature Park .

The Münchenbach , a left tributary of the Ehle, rises on the western edge of the village . The place is part of the Zerbster Land , an arable open cultural landscape and 536 km² main unit of the superordinate main unit group of the Fläming in the north German lowlands . The Zerbster Land forms the southwestern roof of the Fläming to the Elbe and belongs to the catchment area of ​​the river.

history

The first documentary mention of the then desert Feldmark can be found in 1338. However, the place name Walle must have been used here as early as 1300 around 1300 . As a result of a symposium in 2002 it is assumed that this name Walle , also proven for the place in 1447, is to be regarded as a transfer from the Dutch court with the name ten Walle , the later prince's court near Ghent .

Until it was incorporated on January 1, 2009, the village was a district of the city of Loburg, today it is also a district of the city of Möckern.
