Grünthal is a district of Möckern in the Jerichower Land district in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The small village is located three kilometers south of Grabow on the western edge of the very wooded landscape protection area (LSG) Möckern-Magdeburgerforth . This 25,063 hectare LSG is part of the Burg-Ziesarer Vorfläming natural area , which forms the western end of the Fläming . Apart from the immediate surroundings, a river valley with an open meadow and pasture landscape, the place is surrounded by forest. Here three quite large forest areas meet, in the west that is the Wulffensche forest , in the east the Kähnert forest and in the south the Pabsdorf forest .

From Friedensau in the southeast to Grabow in the north, the settlement is traversed by the Ihle , a tributary of the Elbe . The small river and its banks belong to the FFH area Ihle between Friedensau and Grabow as still very natural flowing water in Vorflming . In addition, the Kammerforthgraben flows a few meters west of here , coming from Stegelitz in the southwest, towards the Ihle. The terrain reaches heights of around 60 meters.

history

In a description from 1782 in this area there is an entry for Hansens-Mühle , a water mill on the Ihle, which had a grinding and a whale walk. It was located in Grabowischen Holze and its 16 residents were parish in Grabow . The owner is said to have been a councilor from Wilkens zu Stresow . The mill had three campfire sites, 68 acres of arable land, twelve acres of meadow, three acres of garden land and a mill pond belonging to Stresow. The local miller had to pay an annual long lease to Stresow.

In 1848, according to a statistical representation of the administrative district of Magdeburg in the Prussian province of Saxony, there was a paper mill with four houses and 24 inhabitants. At that time, the place belonged to the parish village and manor Stresow that was eligible for parliament.

Until it was incorporated on January 1, 2010, the village was part of the Grabow community, and today it is also part of the town of Möckern.
