Willi 'Etsche' Lindner (born June 27, 1910 in Frankfurt am Main , † March 5, 1944 ) was a German national soccer player .

The Frankfurter began playing football in 1921 at Union Niederrad before moving to Rot-Weiß Frankfurt in 1928 . There he played until 1931. From July 1931 to September 1932 he was active for Tennis Borussia Berlin until he landed at Eintracht Frankfurt in September 1932 . For Eintracht he was used in 53 championship games until 1943 in which he scored 27 goals. Also in the southern German championship he was used in 15 games in the 1932/33 season in which he scored 11 goals. He scored 3 goals in the same season in the 3 games in the finals of the German soccer championship . He also came to 4 missions in the Tschammer Cup. In 1935 he left Eintracht and played for the TuRa Leipzig and from 1936 to 1938 for the Reichsbahn Rot-Weiß Frankfurt club until he returned to Eintracht in 1938.

His debut in the German national team also took place during his time in Frankfurt. He played on March 19, 1933 in Berlin in the international match against France. Reich trainer Otto Nerz was influenced by the loud spectators who would have preferred Richard Hofmann instead of Lindner , so that Lindner was substituted for Hofmann in the 40th minute. This should remain the only use in the national team.

Lindner also looked after Eintracht in July 1941 as a volunteer trainer.

Willi Lindner died on the Eastern Front in 1944 in World War II .
