Willi Linkens

Willi Linkens , (born August 4, 1953 in Setterich ) is a municipal electoral officer ( CDU ) and full-time mayor of the city of Baesweiler in the urban region of Aachen in North Rhine-Westphalia .

Linkens attended elementary school in Baesweiler- Loverich from 1960 to 1965 and graduated from high school in Alsdorf in 1973 . He then studied law at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn . He completed his first state examination in April 1978 with distinction. He then completed his legal traineeship until 1982 . In 1981, Linkens passed the second state examination at the Ministry of Justice of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia with a thesis on the subject of “ Reform of the municipal code of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia - merging the office of the honorary mayor and the city director into the office of the full-time mayor, who is supported by the citizenship in immediate election is elected ”. A year later he did his doctorate at the University of Cologne .

Linkens worked as a judge from 1981 to 1985, first at the Aachen Regional Court and later at the Geilenkirchen District Court . As a part-time job, he worked as an examiner for the 2nd state examination in law and took on a teaching position for administrative law at RWTH Aachen University , where he was appointed honorary professor on June 13, 2002 . In addition, Linkens took over the office of managing director of the operating company of the technology center of the city of Baesweiler, the international technology and service center (its) and became a member of the executive committee of the North Rhine-Westphalian association of cities and municipalities.

On May 1, 1985, Linkens was elected city director (head of administration) of the city of Baesweiler for eight years by the city council and was re-elected on May 1, 1993. In 1999 he ran for election as full-time mayor of the city and won it. In the local elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2015 on September 13, 2015, he was re-elected to this office with 82.6% of the votes cast.

Linkens has been married to Maria Linkens since 1978 and has two daughters.
