Willi Müller (politician, 1925)

Wilhelm "Willi" Müller (born July 14, 1925 in Mülheim an der Ruhr ; † January 18, 2007 ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

After attending primary school, Müller completed an apprenticeship in a law firm and then worked as a legal assistant. He did Reich labor service since 1942 , was then drafted into the Wehrmacht and took part in World War II as a soldier , most recently as a corporal. After July 20, 1944, his father Wilhelm Müller sen. Murdered in Neuengamme concentration camp . At the end of the war he was taken prisoner by the Soviets, from which he was released in 1949.

After his release from captivity, Müller had to change his job due to severe war damage and from then on worked as an employee of a local health insurance fund . He passed both administrative examinations, was appointed chief administrative inspector and then worked as an official employee of the AOK in Duisburg . He also served as Vice President of the German-Korean Society until 1967.

Political party

Müller joined the SPD in 1950 and was chairman of the SPD sub-district of Mülheim / Ruhr from 1963 to 1977.

MP

Müller was a council member of the city of Mülheim from 1961 to 1969. He was a member of the German Bundestag after the Bundestag election from 1965 to 1980. In parliament he represented the constituency of Mülheim. From 1973 to 1979 he was a member of the European Parliament .
