Willi Nagelschmidt

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Willi "Männ" Nagelschmidt (born January 29, 1922 in Cologne ; † May 30, 1986 ) was a German football player .

The striker came to FC from VfL Köln 1899 at the start of the 1948/49 season, seven months after 1. FC Köln was formed through a merger . With his 16 goals in 16 games, Nagelschmidt, who was feared by opponents above all for his "bomb shot", had a large share in the promotion to the football league West . There he was also a successful goalscorer in the 1949/50 season , even if the rate of 13 goals in 19 games was no longer quite as impressive as in the Rheinbezirksliga. After two league years and a total of 32 games (20 goals), he left 1. FC Köln and played first for Fortuna Düsseldorf, then in the II. Division West for the fusion club SG 99 / West, which in the summer of 1951 from VfL 1899 and the SC West Cologne was created.

He later worked as a meat product representative for FC patron Jupp Schlömer.
