Willi Thier

Willi Thier (born April 3, 1925 ) is a former German football referee .

Between 1963 and 1968 he directed 38 Bundesliga soccer matches . Thier was a founding member of the Bundesliga and the first Gelsenkirchen Bundesliga referee. He and Albert Berger were the first instructors of the referees association of the football district 12 (Gelsenkirchen, Gladbeck , Kirchhellen ). Werner Schütte , later also a Bundesliga referee, and Thier used to work together in the Gelsenkirchen Westfalen-Kaufhaus (WeKa) .
