Wilhelm Valentin Zylajew (born January 9, 1950 in Cologne ) is a German politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After graduating from elementary school , Zylajew completed an apprenticeship as a measurement and control mechanic from 1964 to 1967 and also attended evening technical school from 1965 to 1968 . He then worked at Hoechst AG in Hürth-Knapsack in what he had learned before until he began studying social work at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences in 1969 , which he completed in 1972 as a graduate social worker (FH). He then worked for the German Caritas Association in the Rhein-Erft district, where he became head of department in 1974 and was finally deputy managing director from 1990 to 2002.

Willi Zylajew is Catholic , married and has five children.

Political party

Zylajew joined the CDU in 1969. He is the treasurer of the CDU district association Rhein-Erft and is a member of the state board of the Christian Democratic Workers' Union (CDA) in North Rhine-Westphalia . He has also been a member of the CDA's federal executive board as Federal Treasurer since 2005 .

Zylajew was a member of the City Council of Hürth from 1975 to 2003 . From 1979 to 1984, 1989 to 1995 and again since 1999 he was or is also a member of the district assembly of the Rhein-Erft district. Since 1999 he has also been chairman of the CDU district parliamentary group there.

From 1995 to 2002 Zylajew was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia , where he was spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group for migration policy.

From 2002 to 2013 he was a member of the German Bundestag and here Deputy Chairman of the Workers' Group as well as a member of the Local Policy Working Group of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group . He is also a full member of the Committee on Health and nursing policy rapporteur of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group.

In the 2009 Bundestag election , Zylajew, who had previously entered the Bundestag twice via the state list , won the direct mandate in the Erft District I constituency with 39.4% of the first votes . Zylajew did not run again in the 2013 federal election .

Memberships

Zylajew was a member of the Europa-Union parliamentary group of the German Bundestag .
