William A. Horning

William Allen Horning (born November 9, 1904 in Missouri , † March 2, 1959 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American art director and production designer .

Live and act

After graduating from the School of Architecture of the University of California , Shadow of Doubt was the first of a total of 73 films he made in 1935 .

Like producer Sam Zimbalist , Horning died while filming Ben Hur , for which he was posthumously honored with an Oscar in 1960 .

He was married to Esther Montgomery until his death from cancer.
