action

New York- based newspaper publisher Van and his wife Linda have been happily married for three years . However, both Van's mother Mimi and friends of Linda suspect that sooner or later Van's attractive secretary Whitey could seduce Van into an affair. Linda doesn't want to believe such hints because she trusts her husband. It is different with Whitey's fiancé Dave, who immediately becomes jealous because of Whitey's admiration for her boss. He pushes Whitey all the more to finally marry him. But instead of setting a wedding date, Whitey breaks her engagement to Dave and prefers to jump into work. She wants to help Van make a secret deal with the media mogul Underwood before another publisher breaks up with Van. To this end, Van hides his business plans from Linda, which makes her increasingly suspicious.

Linda finally becomes jealous during a skating run organized by Vans Verlag. She asks Van to move Whitey to another department and gets into an argument with him. But they make up that same night. To close his deal with Underwood, Van has to drive to Havana shortly afterwards . However, he does not want Linda to accompany him. When Van arrives at the destination of his business trip, in view of the immense paperwork, Van lets Whitey follow suit. They now work together day and night. After successfully closing the Underwood deal, Van and Whitey toast their triumph. Although they may be very attracted to each other, they can ultimately resist each other. But when Linda unexpectedly calls and Whitey picks up the phone, Linda is completely convinced of Van's infidelity.

Van returns to New York a little later, where Linda has already filed for divorce. After Van tries unsuccessfully to win her back, he invites Whitey to sail to the Bermuda Islands together . Although Whitey has now fallen in love with Van, she realizes that Van and Linda belong together. Whitey visits Linda and makes it clear to Linda that a divorce is a big mistake. Linda returns to Van and Whitey and Dave find each other again.
