William Bayer
William Bayer (born February 20, 1939 in Cleveland , Ohio ) is an American writer.
Life
Bayer is the son of Attorney Leo Bayer and his wife, screenwriter Eleanor Perry . In addition to their bread-and-butter jobs, both parents also wrote some crime novels under the pseudonym Oliver Weld Bayer .
Bayer began school in 1946 at the Sidwell Friends School ( Washington, DC ); it was followed by the Hawken School ( Lyndhurst, Ohio ) and the Philipps Exeter Academy ( Exeter ). Immediately thereafter, he began to study at Harvard College and was able to successfully complete this course (including art history) in 1960.
His first attempts at writing began at university, and in 1962 Bayer made his successful debut with his novel In search of a hero . Between 1962 and 1968 Bayer worked for the United States Information Agency . During this time he married the writer Paula Wolfert and lived with her successively in Tangier , New York and San Francisco . Bayer currently (2011) lives with his wife in Sonoma , California .

With the exception of two novels, which Bayer published under the pseudonym David Hunt , all of his works were published under his real name. Worth mentioning is the cycle around its protagonist Frank Janek, a police lieutenant of the NYPD .
