William Cail
William Henry Cail (born February 28, 1849 in Gateshead , † November 25, 1925 in Newcastle upon Tyne ) was an English rugby pioneer .
In 1865 William Cail introduced rugby in Stuttgart and Bad Cannstatt . This led to the emergence of a loose syndicate, which later led to the official establishment of the Cannstatter football club and ultimately to the emergence of the predecessor clubs of VfB Stuttgart . In 1892, William Cail was elected President of the Rugby Football Union . After serving as president, he was treasurer of the association until 1924. In 1910, William Cail coached the British and Irish Lions on their tour of South Africa.
