William Cowsill

William (Bill) Joseph Cowsill, Jr. (born January 9, 1948 in Newport , Rhode Island , USA , † February 17, 2006 in Canada ) was an American musician and lead singer of the band The Cowsills .

Life

In 1965 he founded the family band The Cowsills with his brothers Barry, Bob and John in Newport, Rhode Island . Later siblings Susan and Paul and mother Barbara joined the band. The group, playing in the style of the Beatles , was signed by MGM Records . Her biggest hit was The Rain, The Park and Other Things . It reached number two on the US charts in 1967 and sold more than a million records. In 1970 the Cowsills served as a template for the American television series The Partridge Family .

Bill Cowswill moved to Canada in the late 1970s and played with the bands Blue Northern and The Blue Shadows .

William Cowsill died shortly after a funeral service for his brother Barry , who died in New Orleans.
