William F. Petersen

William Ferdinand Petersen (born March 25, 1887 in Chicago , † August 21, 1950 ibid) was the founder of biometeorology in the United States .

Petersen was Professor of Pathology at the University of Illinois from 1924 to 1942 .

In 1963 Eric Michael Glaser, Igho Hart Kornblueh, AP Krueger, Frederick Sargent and Solco Walle Tromp founded the William F. Petersen Foundation , which has presented the William F. Petersen Memorial Award for outstanding research in the field of biometeorology since 1966 .
