William Keith († 1444)
Sir William Keith († October 1444 ) was a Scottish nobleman and Marshal of Scotland .
He was the only son and heir to Sir Robert Keith .
He was knighted in April 1426 at the latest . When his father died, in July 1430 at the latest, he inherited the state office of the Great Marischal of Scotland and the chief dignity of Clan Keith .
In April 1414 he married Mary Hamilton, daughter of Sir John Hamilton of Cadzow († around 1402). He had six children with her:
- Sir Robert Keith († 1446);
- William Keith, 1st Earl Marischal († 1483);
- John Keith;
- Alexander Keith;
- Marion Keith ⚭ Alexander Fraser , 5th Laird of Lovat ;
- Elizabeth Keith ⚭ Sir Alexander de Irwyn, 4th Laird of Drum .
