Fraser is the name of a Scottish clan that comes from the Loch Ness area .
history
The first guaranteed Fraser of Lovat was Sir Simon Fraser († 1333), who acquired the lands around Lovat through marriage in the 14th century . His descendant Hugh Fraser († around 1500) was raised to Lord Lovat between 1458 and 1464 .
Simon Fraser, 11th Lord Lovat helped organize the Jacobite Rising of 1715 and was instrumental in putting it down after it became apparent that it was doomed to fail. During the Second Jacobite Rising he stood open on the side of the insurgents after the Battle of Prestonpans had won, and the rebellion was at the age of 80 years after the renewed crackdown beheaded .
Simon Fraser, 15th Lord Lovat , commanded commands named after him during World War II and later became Minister under Churchill .
The clan's motto is Je suis prest (“I am ready”).
The Fraser clan became internationally known through the Outlander Book Series by Diana Gabaldon , which filmed for television was.
