Chisholm is the name of a Scottish clan that originally came from the county of Chiesholme in Berwick and Roxburghshire and was of Norman origin.

history

When Robert von Chiesholme became Constable of Urquhart Castle on the west bank of Loch Ness in 1359 , parts of the family settled in the Inverness area, especially in the north-west of Loch Ness. In 1715 about 200 members of the Jacobite clan took part in the battle of Sheriffmuir ; In 1746 the clan fought at the Battle of Culloden . The motto of the clan is Feros ferio ("I am combative with the combative").
