MacNab is the name of a Scottish clan from the area between Loch Lomond and Loch Tay .
history
It goes back to the abbots of Glendochart ( Mac an aba means "son of the abbot"). In 1651 a chief was killed near Worcester while fighting on the side of the Stuarts , whereupon the clan remained officially neutral during the Jacobite uprisings , but this did not prevent individual clan members from supporting the Stuarts.
The clan's motto is Timor omnis abesto ("Let fear be far from all").
The MacNab clan was once dominant in Killin and has long been associated with the place. His old burial place can be seen in the village from the bridge over the Dochart on Inchbuie Island .
