Colquhoun (pronounced: / kəˈhuːn /) is the name of a Scottish clan named after the lands of the same name in Dunbartonshire and from Luss on the west bank of Loch Lomond , which was acquired by marriage.

history

In 1603 they were involved in a neighborhood conflict when they attacked the MacGregors to protect their own interests in the area around the hole. At Glenfruin , two hundred Colquhouns were subsequently killed while only two MacGregors were killed, prompting the king to declare the MacGregors outlawed . For the Colquhouns the battle meant that they were never taken seriously as fighters; but at times they had a certain political significance.

The clan's motto is Si je puis (“If I can”).
