MacMillan is the name of a Scottish clan originating from Knapdale .
history
The name probably goes back to monks, because Mac Mhaolain means "son of the toned ". Well-known figures from the clan include Kirkpatrick Macmillan , who played an important role in the development of the bicycle , and Harold Macmillan , former British Prime Minister . The clan's motto is Miseris succerrere disco ("I learn to come to the aid of the unfortunate").
