William Langanke

William Langanke († August 7, 1930 in the Baltic Sea ) was a German pilot and aviation enthusiast.

Life

In 1923 Langanke found a job with the German aircraft manufacturer Junkers & Co. , where he completed practical pilot training. In 1924 he flew as a pilot on the Reval - Stockholm route . In 1925 he took over the Warnemünde- Stockholm night route.

In 1926 he took part in the German Sea Flight Competition with a Junkers W 33 D-921 and took 2nd place.

Langanke worked for Lufthansa from 1927 .

On August 7, 1930, he had an accident while piloting the W 33 D-1826 on the Stockholm- Stralsund route over the Baltic Sea. His body was never found.

Honors

The city of Magdeburg temporarily named a street in his honor as Langankestrasse . In 1935 the Junkers Ju 52 / 3m 2e, 5429, and later the Junkers 52-3 / m, 5740 were named after him.
