William Pitt (* as William Frederick Pate ) is an American singer who first worked as a dressman in the United States . In the mid-1980s he moved to Europe , to the French capital Paris . There he was discovered by Pascal Pillet-Desjardins , a music producer , and received a recording deal .
Career
Pillet-Desjardins wrote the title City Lights on Pitt , which became a small hit in France. When the single was also released in Germany , Austria and Switzerland in spring 1987, it made it into the top 20 of the charts in these countries . In the UK , City Lights didn't get past 94th place.
The follow-up single Funny Girl reached the end of 1987 just in the middle of the German hit parade . As a result, William Pitt disappeared from the public eye without having released an album . A comeback attempt with Such a Lonely Night (I'm Crazy to Leave You) in 1990 failed.
