John Fredrik Kuoppa (born August 16, 1971 in Sundsvall ) is a former Swedish biathlete .

Fredrik Kuoppa is a police officer. He lives and trains in Sundsvall . The Sundsvall Biathlon biathlete started his sport in 1986. has been active in the biathlon world cup since the early 1990s . In 1993 in Antholz , early in his career , he won almost his first World Cup race as a runner-up in an individual and only had to admit defeat to Ulf Johansson . It was also the best World Cup placement for the Swede, which he only achieved once, in 1995 in Ruhpolding in another individual behind Patrice Bailly-Salins . The first major event was the Biathlon World Championships in 1993 in Borovets , where he was 69th in the sprint and 49th in the individual. Also in 1995 he started at the World Championships in Antholz. With 37th place in the singles and 20th place in the sprint, he finished two of his best World Cup placements. In the relay race he finished sixth with Johansson, Mikael Löfgren and Jonas Eriksson . After only a few World Cup races, Kuoppa was able to compete again in the 1996 World Biathlon Championships in Ruhpolding. The Swede was 69th in the individual, 57th in the sprint and ninth in the relay race with Rickard Noberius , Tord Wiksten and Jonas Eriksson. Between this and the next World Championships in Osrblie , he did not take part in any World Cup races and was only used in a relay race at the World Championships. There he finished eleventh with Löfgren, Noberius and Wiksten. For the third time in a row, Kuoppa was the final runner of the Swedish relay at a World Cup. In the 1997/98 Olympic season he was able to fight his way back into the Swedish World Cup team. Highlight of his career was taking part in the Olympic Games of Nagano , where he was deployed in three competitions. In the individual, he was 39th, was 21st in the sprint and with Löfgren, Eriksson and Wiksten tenth in the relay race. Also in the post-Olympic season he regularly took part in World Cup races. The 1999 World Championships in Kontiolahti marked the end of Kuoppa's career . He did not compete in the sprint, in the relay race he finished tenth with Noberius, Matthias Nilssen and Wiksten. The individual was relocated to the Holmenkollen in Oslo due to weather conditions , in this, his last race, the Swede took 27th place.
