William Ridgley

William "Bebe" Ridgley (born January 15, 1882 in New Orleans , † May 28, 1961 ibid) was an American jazz trombonist and band leader of New Orleans jazz .

Ridgley played with the Silver Leaf Orchestra around 1907. With Papa Celestin he was co-director of the Original Tuxedo Orchestra , which both founded in 1916 or 1917. At times Jeanette Salvant and Sweet Emma Barrett played the piano in it. Other members were at times Manuel Manetta , Kid Shots Madison . In 1936 he gave up music for health reasons. He was considered friendly, calm and reliable. His last appearance was at the funeral march at Alphonse Picou's funeral in 1961.

He also played with Henry Allen's brass band in Algiers, Red Allen 's father .
