William Rockefeller
William Rockefeller (born May 31, 1841 , † June 24, 1922 ) was one of the most successful American business tycoons.
Life
From 1866 William was a business partner of his brother John D. Rockefeller , whom he had previously supported in building up his Standard Oil empire. After 1911, when the Standard Oil Trust was forcibly dissolved, William Rockefeller withdrew from management positions in the companies and sold a large part of his shares to John D. Rockefeller. He invested his profits in real estate, real estate and railways.
William Rockefeller had another focus of his business activities at the National City Bank, in which he was involved. He jointly controlled this bank with the Stillman family . Today's Citibank developed from the National City Bank .
In addition, William Rockefeller is considered one of the co-founders of the American metal giant Amalgamated Copper.
