William S. Hatcher

William S. Hatcher (* 20th September 1935 in Charlotte , North Carolina ; † 27. November 2005 ) was an American mathematician , philosopher and Bahai - theologian .

Life

Hatcher earned a bachelor's and master's degree from Vanderbilt University and a doctorate in mathematics from the University of Neuchâtel . He was a professor at several universities in North America and Europe . In the Encyclopédie Philosophique Universelle he is listed as one of the eight greatest philosophers of Platonism in the second half of the 20th century. On his passing, the Universal House of Justice noted : "The Baha'i world has lost one of its brightest minds, one of its most fruitful authors".
