William Stanley, 3rd Baron Monteagle

William Stanley, 3rd Baron Monteagle (around 1528 - November 10, 1581 ) was an English peer .

He was the son of Thomas Stanley, 2nd Baron Monteagle from his first marriage to Lady Mary Brandon. When his father died in 1560, he inherited him as 3rd Baron Monteagle .

In 1555 he was Knight of the Shire for Lancashire in the House of Commons . In 1558 he took part in an English raid on Scottish territory.

In his first marriage he married his stepsister Anne Leybourne († after 1571). In his second marriage, he married Anne Spencer († 1618), daughter of Sir John Spencer († 1586) around 1575.

He left no sons, but a daughter from his first marriage, Elizabeth Stanley (1558-1585), who married Edward Parker, 12th Baron Morley and in 1581 inherited his title of 4th Baroness.

His widow from his second marriage married Henry Compton, 1st Baron Compton († 1589), and in 1592 Robert Sackville, 2nd Earl of Dorset .
