William Teron

William (Bill) Teron , OC (born November 15, 1932 in Gardenton , † March 12, 2018 in Ottawa ) was a Canadian real estate businessman who was known as the "father of Kanata ".

history

William Teron was born in Gardenton , Manitoba in 1932 . When he was 18, he moved to Ottawa and started his own company, Golden Ridge Developments Ltd. He is responsible for the two suburban projects in the Ottawa area.

  • He converted Bells Corners into a "garden suburb". Before residential development began, it was called Lynwood Park and Arbeatha Park in the early 1960s .
  • He was best known for the construction of the city of Kanata , where previously there was only a green area of ​​the March urban area.

From 1973 to 1979 he was CEO and President of the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). He was also the founder of "Teron International Building Technologies".

In 1982 he was named Officer of the Order of Canada .

He died on March 12, 2018 at the age of 85.
