Willibald A. Günthner (* 1952 ) is a German engineering scientist . He was a university professor for materials handling , material flow and logistics at the Technical University of Munich .

Life

Günthner studied mechanical engineering and industrial and economic sciences at the Technical University of Munich . After completing his doctorate (1985) at the chair for conveyor systems there , he worked as a design and technical manager for conveyor and material flow technology at Max Kettner Abfüll- und Verpackungsanlagen GmbH. In 1989 he took over the professorship for conveying and material flow technology at the FH Regensburg . From 1994 to 2017 he headed the chair for materials handling , material flow and logistics (fml) at the Technical University of Munich with more than 60 employees. Johannes Fottner succeeded him. In 2018 Günthner received the VDI Badge of Honor from the Association of German Engineers (VDI).

Scientific work

Research at the chair of Prof. Günthner focused on numerous priorities in technical logistics, for example the control and optimization of material flow processes using innovative identification technologies (RFID), the further development of logistics planning based on digital tools and the role of people in logistics. Günthner attached particular importance to the practical transfer of the scientifically developed results, also to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). To this end, he founded the Logistics Innovation Center (liz) and the RFID User Center Munich (RFID-AZM) at the Technical University of Munich .
