Willis H. Beals

Willis H. Beals (born February 1, 1859 in Greenfield , † January 8, 1889 there ) was an American painter, draftsman and watercolorist.

Life

Willis H. Beals was born the son of dentist Joseph Beals and his wife Frances Arabella (née Bosworth). After leaving school, he began his artistic training at the State Normal Art School in Boston and the Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia , before moving to England in August 1883 and then to France a short time later to continue his education there under more liberal conditions .

In 1884 he and Henry Parker Fellows brought out a travel guide for boat trips on the rivers of New England . In 1887, after his return to the USA , he presented two of his watercolors, which he had painted in Berneval in Normandy , at an exhibition of the American Water Color Society , of which he was an associate member .

Willis H. Beals died on January 8, 1889, at the age of only 29.
