Willisen is the name of a German noble family .

Origins

The family comes from the Wetterau . The family line begins with Johann Will, town clerk in Windecken near Hanau . In 1702 he was accepted into the imperial aristocracy and knighthood with Edler von Willisen for the ducal-saxony-naumburg real secret councilor Emanuel Willius (1656–1728). The Saxon Zeitzische nobility recognition took place on October 28, 1702 for the same. The Prussian approval to use the title of baron was granted with the highest cabinet order of January 10, 1863 for Friedrich Adolf von Willisen and his descendants, as well as with the highest cabinet order of April 29, 1866 for his older brothers Carl Friedrich Ferdinand (1788–1873) and Karl Wilhelm and their descendants.
