Willy Hornschuch

Konrad Adolf Heinrich Wilhelm "Willy" Hornschuch (born March 31, 1889 in Forchheim ; † February 23, 1962 ) was a German entrepreneur and head of Konrad Hornschuch AG . He has received numerous awards for his entrepreneurial and social services, including as an honorary senator of the University of Tübingen and as an honorary citizen of several communities.

Life

He was the son of the industrialist Konrad Hornschuch (1864-1943) and trained in weaving and spinning mills in England, worked for a time at the Cotton Exchange in Liverpool and as a merchant in London , before returning to his father's company after the First World War , where he had power of attorney since 1914 , became a partner when it was converted to an OHG in 1919 and co-owner when it was converted to Konrad Hornschuch AG in 1927. In 1931 he took over the management of the plant in Weißbach , after the death of his father he took over the entire management in 1943. His special merit is the rebuilding of the company after the Second World War.

Hornschuch has received numerous awards for its entrepreneurial and social performance. In 1939 he became an honorary citizen of Weißbach, 1950 of Unterurbach, 1955 of Oberurbach. In 1952 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit and in 1955 the Great Cross of Merit . In 1955 he was also made an honorary senator of the University of Tübingen and received the plaque of honor from the Stuttgart Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the gold medal of the German Red Cross .

From 1915 he was married to the factory owner's daughter Nelly Alice Streubel (* 1896). The marriage had two daughters. The older daughter Annemarie married Hermann Christian Widenmeyer (1912–1976), who headed the plant in Weißbach from 1946 and the entire company after Hornschuch's death in 1962.
