education and profession

Schramm attended elementary school and learned the trade of a metal worker. He worked as a machine worker and later as chairman of the works council in Bremen.

politics

Schramm became a member of the SPD in 1920 and had been a member of the union since 1918. In the SPD he had various functions since 1921. From 1925 to 1931 he was a board member of the branch of the metal workers' association in Bremen. From 1930 to 1933 he was a member of the Bremen citizenship .

During the time of National Socialism he was temporarily imprisoned in the so-called work education camp Nordmark of the Gestapo Kiel, and in 1944 in the work education camp Farge of the Gestapo Bremen. Schramm "kept the sick book for months in the Farge labor education camp." He wrote a report on this camp, presumably to the VVN Bremen.

After the Second World War he was again a member of the citizenry from 1946 to 1947. There he called on the Senate on January 9, 1947 to intervene with the military government against the intention of the British to blow up the island of Heligoland .

From 1945 to 1951 (†) he worked as district party secretary and board member of the SPD district committee Hamburg-Northwest in Bremen.
