Willy Zeller (born November 14,  1931 ) is a former German boxing manager and organizer.

Life

Zeller was in the boxing business and ran fur shops and tobacco shops . After he and some of his boxers went to search for the perpetrators as a result of a robbery in one of his fur shops in 1970, Zeller and five other people had to appear before the regional court in West Berlin  on charges of deprivation of liberty, coercion, responsible for dangerous bodily harm and trespassing. Zeller was sentenced to an eight-month suspended sentence. Zeller, who said of himself that he had “a penchant for the great”, lived in the former villa of Hermann Göring .

In the 1970s he and his Hamburg adversary Wilfrid Schulz dominated the German boxing market. Together with Fritz Wiene, Zeller was one of the main characters in the newly founded Association of German Pugilists (VdF), which competed with the Association of German Professional Boxers in the second half of the 1970s . In December 1976, the Hamburger Abendblatt wrote of successful attempts to revive the German professional boxing sport by “obsessed men” who invested “a lot of money and time” and made statements particularly with regard to Zeller and Schulz.

Zeller's most famous boxers included Bernd August , Horst Benedens , Eckhard Dagge , Jörg Eipel , and Frank Wissenbach .
