The Willys Eight was an American passenger car launched by Willys-Overland in Toledo, Ohio , in 1931. It was derived from Willys Six .

The car had an eight-cylinder in-line engine with 80 bhp (65 kW) power installed lengthways at the front. This engine was supplied by Continental . The wheelbase of the vehicle was 3,048 mm and its price ranged from US $ 995 to US $ 1,395.

Until 1933, the Eight was offered in different versions. That year the company went bankrupt, but production continued. Together with the Willys-Knight and the Willys Six , the Eight was discontinued in favor of the smaller Willys 77 with a four-cylinder engine.

Models year after year

Model year 1931

The Eight appeared in two different versions: From the 8-80D series , there was a Victoria Coupé and a sedan, both in normal and luxury versions. In addition, there was a custom version of the sedan, which was once again more expensive by US $ 200. The 8-80 series also had a coupé and a sedan, of which there was also a normal and a luxury version. These better-equipped models were $ 250 to $ 300 more expensive than the corresponding 8-80D models.

Model year 1932

The successor to the 8-80D and 8-80 was the 8-88 series . Like the corresponding model series of the Willys Six , this model series was given the nickname "Silver Streak". The wheelbase grew by 1 '' to 3073 mm. Prices fell to US $ 730 to US $ 1030; A roadster, a sports roadster, 3 coupés (2 seats, 4 seats and Victoria) and 3 sedans (standard, sport, custom) were offered.

Model year 1933

The 8-88A series took over the wheelbase and mechanics from the previous model, but had new streamlined bodies to offer: the radiator grille and windshield tilted backwards, the headlights had tapered housings and the spare wheels had disappeared from the sides of the vehicle. There was a coupé and a limousine, both in normal and custom designs. Prices ranged from $ 955 to $ 1,155.
